San Lucas Island is a very special destination in Costa Rica. For more than 100 years, it was a prison, much like Alcatraz and Devil's Island.
Since the prison closed in 1992, the island is hotspot for daytrips. Visitors frequent the old prison buildings in the mornings, and after a fresh lunch, relax on the beach. In the afternoon, we'll return to Puntarenas, motoring around the south of the island so that you have the best opportunities to spot dolphins and see the spectacular sunset. This is truly a special day – one you cannot miss.
