Poás Volcano is one of the most visited national parks in Costa Rica. It has two very impressive craters, one of which houses a beautiful, blue lagoon. At 2,704 meters (8,871 feet) in altitude, the first crater is 1.3 kilometers (4,265 feet) wide and 300 meters (984 feet) deep. The last major eruptions occurred between 1952 and 1954.
The second crater, Botos Lagoon, is a lake surrounded by dense cloud forest. Here, you will find a wide variety of hummingbird species and several types of exotic birds. The national park that surrounds has an extensive trail system that offers beautiful views to the Central Valley and the San José metropolitan area.
During this tour, we'll also visit the Doka coffee plantation, where you will enjoy an exiting tour and incredible food. During the trip back to Jaco, we'll stop in the town of Sarchí, which is famous for its artisan goods and woodworking.
